Hi all, I just bought a Leica ERi 2.5x10x42mm for hunting on a right-hand Model 70 in 30-06. Rifle is stainless and would prefer (but not require) stainless rings/bases for lower field maintenance. The gunsmith recommended three different scope rings and bases and said up to me to choose. He has had good/bad experiences with all. Which would you choose for strength and concentricity for my 30mm scope? 1. Talley Lightweight-Alloy: Model-70-Standard-Caliber_Low Non-stainless. 2. Talley-Fixed-Ring-System/Stainless-Steel_Low)3. I'm not MD, but my preference for that rifle would be Talley lightweights. Not the silver ones, but the matte black. Lows would probably still work on a 42mm objective. If you wan't pics, I have plenty...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Talley Lightweights
Conetrol rings
In that order...Conetrol rings are great rings, a bit of a PITA to mount and unless you use their supplied paper liner will mar your scope tube. Talleys will be much much easier to mount and work fine in that application.

+1 what Oldelkhunter wrote. I've got both and while the Conetrols might be a little sleeker looking, they get lots more $ for what they sell and the Talley's are way easier to mount.
My other auto is a .45

Thank you all. I went with the Talleys and the rifle will be ready this weekend.
