I've been changing the oil in my truck from 5K to 7K miles. What are you guys doing? I stopped changing it every 3K miles years ago.
........................3 months ago after all of my free bee oil changes (done every 6K miles) were used up at the dealer where I bought my 2015 Ram Hemi brand new, I started using 5-20 AMSOIL Signature series along with their appropriate long range oil filter.......$12.30 per quart x 7 quarts is $86.10, plus the filter at about $17.00 from the local AMSOIL distributor, plus $22.00 to do the oil change where I go. About 134.00 total every 15K vs $40 to $50 each time every 5K.........Cost wise, it is almost a wash.
Whenever the odometer hits the next even 10k +/-. Mobil 1. 180k so far, but I'm pretty sure I could get 200k with the used Mobil 1 I pull out of the wife's car.
Maybe at 400k I can say the 10k was a good idea. Hard to say in a Toyota, does anyone actually wear one out?
I change them on the schedule the owner's manual recommends. That means every 7500 miles on my 99 dodge/cummins, 10,000 miles on my 2014 camry, and 5000 miles on my 2016 tundra.

My new truck came from the factory with synthetic everything. It calls for the oil to be changed at 8k miles or once a year which ever comes first. It has a warning that comes on when it's about do. Bing that I have the lifetime powertrain warranty I take it to the dealer and have them do it. Off to see them in the morning.
NYH1.
Take nothing I say personal, remember....it's just the interweb!

As always I'll get flamed.... but what the hell, its the campfire!
I run mine anywhere between 4 to 5 times the distance as you do your 5K changes...
or between 3 and 3.5 times longer than you run your 7K changes...
Napa Gold filters, change every 10K.. oil used is Mobil One...
pretty much have been using Mobil One since about 1985, almost exclusively...
Oldest vehicle I have is my old 88 4Runner bought new in Sept 87... its had Mobil One pretty exclusively most of its life... she's got a mile or two on her and still chuggin around pretty good...but does show some wear here and there...

Last change for my 2006 GMC Sierra diesel was in July 2016, I'll hold off changing it again until the oil analysis recommends another change. Using Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 HD Diesel Oil (recommended for pre-2007 diesel engines), with an Amsoil Remote Dual Bypass Filter System. Tested every 7,500 miles and never once had a report that even came close to recommending an oil change. The dual filter with a high efficiency bypass filter changed every 50k miles, or upon second primary full flow filter change every 25k miles, keeps the oil clean. Even soot contamination after 21,000+ miles remains under .1 of 1 % of volume, same for oil fuel dilution, and viscosity thinning from sheer. The additive anti-wear metals always remain well above minimum concentration, and the viscosity remains constant. While the DuraMax engine is thrifty on oil consumption, the small amount of makeup oil replenishes the additives sufficiently to maintain viability. Given the new oil required at filter changes, I may never have to change the entire fill of 10 quarts + 2 quarts for the filters, again. Given that I keep the extended warranty current, maintaining used oil analysis records is required should anything go amiss.
I also run a Baldwin coolant bypass filter along with Amsoil Propylene Glycol Antifreeze & Coolant, to protect the cooling system. After the first annual filter change I found the filter media had trapped considerable residue of engine block casting sand, scale and what appeared to be flecks of gasket sealer. The filter will also trap any products of coolant breakdown, that white concretion that plugs radiator tubes causing overheating, This coolant is rated 150k miles or 5 years in light vehicle applications or 600K miles 12k hours or 6 years in heavy duty applications.

The book sez 7500 for my truck, unless it's being used in 'severe duty' (or similar) which drops the mileage to 5000 between changes. Using Mobil-1 diesel synthetic.. I'm sure I could go longer, but oil's TONS cheaper than a new engine..
