I am fixing to purchase a set of Zee rings and XTB bases for my 700LA. I have never used them so I need some advice. Are the ones w/the plastic inserts any good or should I just get the standard rings?I am mounting a Zeiss 3.5-10 x 44.Will the mediums be OK on this scope? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

The ones with the plastic are called "Signature", and yes, they are better than the standard Zee ring.

Well they are a Burris product, you might end up getting one made of aluminum, and one made of steel, or the slots might go the wrong direction, LOL! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have used and really like the Signature Z rings. They hold securely, don't mark the scope, and the offset inserts allowed me to to get close to zeroed without using internal scope adjustments. This was on a rifle where the scope base holes were WAY out of alignment.... The offset inserts are also a way to get extra elevation if you are doing the long range thing....

A BIG +1 for the Burris Signature Rings! No more lapping or tedious alignment of the rings needed; the spherical inserts self-align to the scope tube, whether the bases or rings are aligned or not. Zero stress on the scope tube or bases. And the Pos-align inserts are absolutely fantastic for adding windage or elevation correction range, or simply mechanically sighting the scope in, thereby keeping the optics centered for best performance.
The signature rings are all steel (except of course the polymer inserts), and are machined together, so keep each ring upper and lower half together, and oriented (upper vs lower) the way they came in the package. The torx ring screws work very well too, and they come with a torx wrench.

JimF, our "way out there" light rifle expert, uses aluminium bases on his rifles with Burris Signature Rings, or other steel Zee Rings. That set up works and holds up just fine. His rifles are not light kickers, they do get used hard, and he's been using this setup for quite a while. E

If you get the Signatures, with the inserts, be sure to degrease them with some rubbing alcohol before assembling them. Although I had used several sets before and loved them, I made that very mistake with a light weight semi-heavy kicker and paid for it with a busted scope. The scope got relaced, the inserts cleaned of oil, and all is now well. Signature rings are an excellent choice.
