Just thought I'd pass along this link. THIS IS NOT MY COLLECTION. I'm just passing it along because someone here may be interested.

Apparently this gentleman has quite an extensive collection of new New Haven Featherweights he'd like to sell. I did message the guy to see if he had any stainless (just a couple) or if he would sell any individually. He prefers to sell them all together.

If it is any consolation, a couple months ago I called Winchester about getting some M70 parts. I also asked to talk to someone about new product recommendations, and they transferred my call to one of the guys that handles that type of thing. I asked that they consider producing Model 61s (pump 22s), stainless M70s with walnut stocks, and some kind of a 6.5mm. I told him demand and prices were very high for M61s and that I had recently seen bids over $2k for a stainless walnut 6.5x55 on gunbroker (plus I love stainless walnut M70s - have three of them).

Well, there was pretty much no response from him on the M61, he thought reviving the stainless/walnut M70s was great idea, and he said there would be 6.5 creedmoor M70s next year. I took it that they would be featherweights, but not sure on that.

I am not a huge 6.5 guy - I don't own a single one, but I appreciate what they are. I think, but am not sure, that the 6.5x55 M70s were long action, and I think short action would be preferable in a 6.5. If I had to get a long action 6.5, it actually seems like a 6.5-06 would be optimal (which, hey, what a great factory cartridge that could be!). I really wish they made an M70 short action in a cartridge that duplicates the 6.5mm Rem Mag (or the 6.5 Rem Mag!). I would get excited about that. Right now I'm saving for a 7-08 instead, which I was seeing if this guy would sell individually out of his collection - he wouldn't.

Don't believe we'll ever see bids of $2k for a Model 70 made on foreign soil, and lacking the best factory hunting trigger ever produced.

I personally wouldn't bid $2 for one.

Beautiful collection of made in America greatness!

Sorry for rant, carry on.

I hear what you are saying (what the heck was wrong with South Carolina?), but maybe Portugal is better than no where. It was a pretty sad day when USRAC shut down and it wasn't clear the M70 was ever coming back. I was awful happy for the ones I had.

I haven't tried the new triggers, all of mine are New Haven, and I have no complaints at all.

A 6.5 creed feathweight has some appeal for a low recoil deer knocker downer. Unfortunately some of that appeal is lost when it says made in portugal. I have nothing against the people of Portugal and love many outdoors products from other countries, sako, tikka, CZ, etc. It just seems so wrong with Winchester. Growing up in the rust belt and seeing everything get outsourced just adds to the sour. Portugese Winchester just seems like a symbol for e erything wrong in our economy.
