got a stock for the F 308 and when i put the stock on the tang safety won't engage. works fine with the butt stock off. i have relieved every where it could be hitting and can see no binding marks at all. any words of wisdom before i turn this stock into a hollowed out shell? the finger lever has full closure against the lower tang so that's probably not it

Tom step back for a spell and go back to it when you're not so eager to figger it out and it'll be right there in plain sight. I bet it's hitting the inside of the stock under the cheek.

you are probably right Roy. though i have coated the whole mechanism with inletting black and nothing shows up. i shaved the inside of the right hand cheek and it still won't activate the safety. love a mystery! still getting rain? we had snow on what i call closure peak across the valley. about a month early.

Got a few drops but should get some this week. Got relief from the smoke finally. Fish are in the river but I suck at catching them. Maybe I can kill a good blacktail in a couple weeks.

DS, made me laugh, I was thinking the 284 would make a nice stiff little rod. It actually reminded me of reading, years ago, that MN once had a rifle season for fish. Can anyone verify that? Joe.

I could give it a try, it runs in the family. I guess dad used to shoot salmon with his 22. Was the most efficient way to fish at the time.

last rifle fishing i did was when tulare basin flooded in the 70's. there were carp 4 feet long in the ditches when the water receded. had a black family following us and they took out "catch" and smoked them. brought me some and it was great. changed my outlook on carp.
