I recently traded into a Whitworth .375 . No real hunting plans for it, occasiontional range trip and maybe try on a hog. Old eyes dampen the enjoyment of iron sights. Thinking of scoping. Is the Leupold VX2 , 1-4x20 man enough for .375 recoil?
Thanks.

I'm interested in that answer, too.

I've got one on a Guide gun, and so far, it's held up. But, it hasn't had all that many run through it, yet.

Calculations on a 10-lb .375 with a 270 grain bullet at 2700 fps is 36 ft-lbs recoil at 15.4 fps, while my GG load generates 34 ft-lbs at 16 fps, so it's relatively even.

I hunt with the .45-70, but recoil is at a level where I don't sit and fire large amounts of ammo at one time through it, maybe 20 rounds.

Not an expert, but, based on the general toughness of Leupolds and the fact that it only weighs 8oz., I believe it'll do well. Especially since the .375 offers more of a shove than a .300 or .338 magnum. I just put M8 3x on mine. Plenty of power for anything you'll shoot with a .375.

I mounted one of these on a Ruger #1 in 45-70 for a buddy, 20+ years ago, we built, at his urging [still dont know why] a load featuring the 350 gr Hornady round nosed sp [later to a mag? flat point] bullet for a velocity of 2400 fps, not a typo, it's a hot load to say the least, last check the little friction adjust 1-4x20 is still chugging right along.

I think my bud is a sado-masakists? from some of the wounds I've seen on the deer and pigs he's shot with that load.

I have had a 41 year old, "G" prefix, 2-7X28 Vari-X IIc on a Winchester 70 in 375 H&H for over 30 years and it has never missed a beat, so I would expect a comparable Leupold with 30 years of improvements to be an even better sight.

I have a VX II 1-4 that has spent its whole life on several different hard-recoiling rifles, including a .375 H&H and a .404 Jeffery and it still holds zero an tracks like it should. Yours should work just fine.

I've used a VX-II 1-4x on my CZ 550 .375 H&H and it worked fine.

You know you want to shoot a nilgai with a 95 BTip! If you don't, who will (besides the designer Gale Root)?

Hope that was a one-shot kill on that rabbit. They charge if they're wounded, and they're fast and mean.
