Hope what I've read here works out, this is my first one, a new 6x. Man that is one heavy scope. It's not what I'm used to and I'm not sure where to park it! Do they make a smaller scope better suited to all around use? Like the optics.

Sorry, they don't make lighter scopes, but you can use them as a club, and know that they will still track correctly, and return to zero. Very reliable.

How do you pin the bastiches down on a lightweight 7 mag w/o them walking around?

I put a 6x on a 7 mag, with the SWFA rings and one-piece rail. It has not moved.

I've got 2 mounted in Talley's on sub 9lb rifles and haven't had a problem.... Can't imagine the weight being a shock, as it's listed accurately right on the website Tanner

Fireball, I have two SWFA SS scopes; a 6x and a 10x. While they do add a bit of weight to your rifle, I haven't found them create an imbalance on either rifle (Browning X-bolt 300 win mag or my Tikka T3 7mm-08). The scopes are a great value and I predict you will be happy with your 6x.

I don't know if it'd be possible for me to go back to the Leupold I had on my 22-250 after having the 6x42 MQ... I'll take the few extry ounces over the pain of having a malfuntion come crunch time.
Just got done dialing a 1-4 in this evening.. Tracks like it has eyes as well and the reticle kicks arse, I'm interested to see if it holds up as good as the 6x42.

I have three classics.
Two 6x42 MQ's sit on my two 6.5 Creedmoor's and I put a 10x42 MQ on the 22-250 Tikka from Whittakers.
Great scopes all of them sit in Talleys and so far no problems.

I'm sure the scope could weigh 5 lbs and there's folks who'll say "It doesn't add much weight or unbalance my rifle at all"...............

Well, the 3-9 is smaller.... How do you pin the bastiches down on a lightweight 7 mag w/o them walking around?

I did drop 32 ounces off my sleeping bag weight by going to a down quilt and also grabbed a lighter pad. And depending on the weather, I do have some light tents to work with. I'll keep carrying SWFA and Nightforce stuff though as I like to dial for range and they both work well for me.
