In light of the moderators recent decision to lock several threads on this forum, I have decided
to take my own advice for once in my life and move on to other pastures.
Never liked the feel of being fenced in I guess.
I must say I enjoyed many of the topics discussed here and always tried my best to contribute something whenever I could.
As has been said here before, you are a great bunch of people.
(all except you Bristoe......grin)
When things seemed to be getting too serious I always tried to find a joke somewhere to inject a little levity into the Forum and hopefully I was able to make a few people smile here every once in awhile.
I sincerely tried to explain my views regarding the chilling effect that I believe censorship always seems to have on peoples willingness to truly express themselves in Kutenay's "Vote of Respect" post.
However, the moderator chose to lock it up before any meaningful dialog could be established.
Good luck to you all and most importantly.... HAPPY HUNTING.............
Hey Gene Langston wait for me.............I'm right behind you.

I will miss your contribution, djmbow! FWIW, you made some good points concerning that TKW thread, IMO. Take care!

The Campfire a highly censored forum?? PLEASE.....
The threads that were locked needed to be locked. I have been on the Campfire for several years now, and there have only been a couple threads locked that I have participated in. There have only been one or two posters Rick has kicked off. This is miles ahead of most other forums. Crud, some places have a cow if you make a post that doesn't fit the topic exactly.
This is the best hunting and shooting site on the Internet, period. Rick lets us police ourselves and only steps in when things get way out of hand. It just doesn't get any better than that.

This place is on #2 still. As much as we may deny it,we've already hit #3 and have been there for awhile. And we're creeping twards #4. It's a sad day when some of the forum's very best members, are now widely disliked. And for very good reasons. WB.

djmbow, The three threads Rick locked in the last day or so were all racially charged and controversial. This is a family site.Rick is also trying to run a business here.
If you don't understand that.........bye.

What Blaine said.
Some people were trying to prove they were more equal than others. Instead of a campfire where people discuss, this place was (is?) becoming a theatre with head line actors, bit players and an audiences.
Rick walks a tight line, and sometimes he acts too quickly, and sometimes (here) he doesn't act quickly enough. In other words, he's human, after all. Pretty sure he does what he does better than I would. FWIW, Dutch.

We all have our opinions. Mine is that Rick shows remarkable restraint. There are some things that just should not be said out of respect for others as well as yourself. I, for one, will miss you but I don't roam much. I'm either here or Benchrest Central......here about 80% of the time. I wish the very best for you.

I haven't seen much censorship on the board, but I am surprised that so many here regard the throwing of derogatory, racial, insults as a form of freedom of speech...I mean it is, but who needs that stuff?
In all honesty I was surprised that Rick or Sitka didn't shut it down after page two.
In all honesty, I'm on the other side of the coin, if that kind of stuff were to become more prevalent on this site, it would have been me the doorknob hit in the ass. Got to be honest, I'm glad it isn't going to be tolerated I guess it's just that old CA PC upbringing I guess.
I say you ought to take a couple of days and think it over before you abandon one of your favorite sites.

I guess I missed whats been goin' on here- to cause you to reach this decision ... but I do avoid a lot of topics here myself, that might cause me undue aggravation.
Tell you what though, I will sure miss you -as I have often been struck by- and have related to many of your your posts.
I think the door is always open here to anyone who wants to poke their head in- and I hope you will do just that- whenever or for whatever reason you feel comfortable doing so.
You're a stand-up and a stand-out sort of person in my opinion- and I'd like to thank you for all that you've contributed here ... so far.

I don't have a lot of time to poke around the internet, so limit myself to this site and topics and threads that catch that catch my eye. Flat missed all the locked threads, although Kutenay's posts have been interesting. Free speech only goes so far, however, and this IS Rick's site.
