I'm headed out for a few days the end of this week. Not getting too excited though. Went 0 for 11 on special permits and am stuck with an east side (spike only) ML elk license.

Might hit late season down by the snake river if I don't find a spike this week.

What is an elk? frown

Our ML elk season doesn't start 'til November. I don't have a tag. My ML is not legal for elk here. I guess I won't be contributing pictures.

Nice job Fred.

I was up in Taneum and Manastash the last couple days. Didn't see schit but a handful of deer. Not even a damn grouse. Lol.

Is that the 300gr in the orange sabot? Shot a few of those yesterday while checking the scope on my Ultralight. Almost the same POI as the Barnes T-EZ. Nice mushroom.

SPS discounts those a bunch. I think I got some for like $9 a pack. Right now they're $10.20, still cheap if you buy enough stuff to offset the shipping.

Yes that's the one they gave them to me a long time ago and work so well I can't see not using them.
Last year was pretty much the same result. Here are those two. The one on the right did some heavy spine work.

Ya we bought the wife an east side elk tag and with 14 points she got skunked so we will eat it. No spike elk is worth the headache that the east side gives.

Good to know. I think I've got about 60 left. Pulled some to load in a .45/70 I was playing with. Gonna try the sabots from the ones I pulled with some Sierra 300gr .458 HPs.

I'm confused. Did you mean "too" instead of "to"? If so, then your question makes more sense but I don't want to assume too much. Assuming that's what you meant, though, no. My gun isn't legal for elk here in Oregon because state game regulations mandate a minimum .50 caliber for muzzleloaders for elk, sheep, and goats. We allow anything over .40 for deer, bear, cougar, and antelope. If you meant something else, please let me know and I'll try to give you a better answer. Thanks for the reply!
