Looking at this for the simplest implementation for Barrett, they already produce the following:
Short action (lw contour): .243 Win - 1 in 7" .22-250 Rem - 1 in 7" 6.5 Creed - 1 in 8" 6mm Creed - 1 in 7" 7mm-08 Rem - 1 in 8" .308 Win - 1 in 10"
Long action (~#2 contour): .25-06 Rem - 1 in 9" .270 Win - 1 in 10" .30-06 Sprg - 1 in 10" 6.5x55 Swe - 1 in 8"
I'd think the quickest/easiest would be to go with a barrel they already have and chamber it in something they already cut chambers for. The overlap would be for .308 and 6.5 Creed using a long action barrel (30-06 or 6.5x55). This seems like the no-nonsense option. Very little overhead.
Not sure if they would want to chamber a long action in the lw contour at any length longer than 21" (?)....it wouldn't interest me if they did, but it would fall under the same ease as the above.
Second quickest/easiest would be to use an existing barrel and chamber it in something they don't currently offer. Use any of the barrel/contours/bore/twist rates and chamber it in whatever. Still fairly small overhead to implement.
After that options really open up but I'd guess the cost and effort would increase substantially.

#2 contour, 22" barrel on the current short action chamberings. Nothing too special.
This. Just use their long action contour at 22" with their short action. 6.5 CM, 7-08 are both interesting to me with the 6.5 in first place, but a plain .308 would be ok as well. Edited to note: Could be 24" on the barrel. Easy enough to cut/crown as desired. +1 22"- 24" #2 Contour available threaded or not. In all short actions especially these; 6mm Creed 6.5 SAUM

Excellent point! I have no direct knowledge of what specific chamberings have been selling, but going from posts here it seems like 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor would do well. Like another poster mentioned, perhaps this could be their "long range" option?

I think it should be a 280 or a 280 AI with a 24 inch barrel and a 1 in 8 twist. I would advise the regular 280 which buyers could easily convert to the AI version if they so desire.
This would cover most of the same ground that could be covered by a fast twist 270,a 284,or a 7mm Remington magnum, but would require no changes other than the barrel and would require no additional special tooling or investment. They could paint the stock a custom color, and it would be good to go.

As others have already said, the heavier #2 countour from the LA chamberings, on the short action and chambered for the 6.5 and 6 Creed (or .243win). 22" sounds about right. The materials and reamers are already in house, just a change in the stock inlet for an already familiar contour and they are there......
Now with even more aplomb

.223 or 5.56, 1/7 twist, 18” TB.
I’d buy two for myself and 3 for the shop. I'd be in for one of these.

Some of y'all are asking for an action change with anything other than a standard case head.
Some of y'all are requesting a crime against nature with the brown stock/red pad.....red pad should only be used on a wood/blued rifle. Repent sinners....
Stock color I can care less about, krylon (or duracoat if going all out) is made every day.

This one will be on my new .270 - it might even be a little bright for my tastes.

6.5 Creedmoor with the long action barrel contour. Very simple.

Another vote for a 280 of some variety. 23" barell!
And the 6.5 saum, but not sure how realistic this is given your criteria.

LOL. There's a relatively quiet movement here toward making the .270 great again.

Could it be the gayness allegations about the 270 were the result of insecure 7x57 loons projecting?
