How about a 26" barrel, medium heavy contour, .260, 7mm-08, .308.

Agreeing on cartridge, barrel length and weight is a hard sell.

I think it would be easier for them to just slap some Barrett labels on some spray paint.

Nah. It's healthy discussion. Not his decision anyway. He is just planting the seed.

I would like a 223-300 weatherby in a short action with a mountain rifle contour barrel and yellow stock.

If Melvin would have had a Chevy dealership, by now it would be the State Car of WV. Don't visit him without the intention of buying a rifle, and he will even make you a .284W, or....

I propose a perfect Tenntucky Truck Gun to Darrik and the hunt-crazy boys at BFMI.

I noticed the Wally Whirled in the 'hood nearest me now has truck grade 6.5 Creed for $18 a box; just the reason I need to get into that caliber. Have never seen .260 chow there.

It seems 'Fire boys 'n' girls, East and West, like to use a vehicle as a gunning platform where legal. That calls for a short barrel and compact stock to slip out windows.

BFMI already makes 18-in. threaded barrels, but 16-in. would be maux truck friendly still.

Be very cool if BFMI brought out an over-barrel suppressor to keep with short theme.

Paint the stock a rich Tenntucky Mud Brown with Orange gel pad and 13-in. LOP.

I'd sell several of my ballistic children for a rig like that...

P.S. A .17 WSM or Whoregnat understudy would be incredible.

Hopefully the derailment of this thread won't derail a fantastic offer from SAS...I'd really like to see this come to some sort of fruition (in 280, of course 😉) for him. Whittaker's has been an outstanding resource for the 'fire - they are hard on the pocketbook, but the best gun shop I have dealt with in a long time!

SAS,

First, I appreciate your effort for the special runs here on the 'Fire. Thank you !

In the future, when Left Hand Actions become an option, I would be in for a special run LH .243Win / 6.5CM / 6.5x55 / .270Win / 7x57, with #2 barrel contour, 1:8" twist. Preferably OD green with black pad on a dull (abrasive blasted) stainless rifle.

Again, thank you for your time and effort... And thanks to the Barrett folks for being willing to listen !!!

in the interest of unity or diversity or whatever, i second this recommendation. a left-handed anything would be useful, although right-handed stuff does work too.

a left-handed 6.5CM would probably be first choice, not ruling out anything else.

Put me in line for a left hand short action fieldcraft in some form!

If I were choosing a limited model it would be in either 6.5x284 or 284 Winchester with a 24 inch barrel and every piece of steel would be salt bath nitrided so I wouldn't even have to consider maintenance while in the mountains (must come in left hand of course😁)

A long action .270, .280 or 30-06 would get me clicking the pen.........so where exactly do we send the deposit?
