A comment was made on another thread that we should be thankful that idiot was using a bump fire stock as aimed fire would have been more effective. I tend to agree. This got me to thinking about what ammo he was using. I'll bet it was mil surplus stuff like green tip which I would guess would be less destructive than soft points or HPs. Won't stop the dumbazz politicians from banning the bump fire stocks and I'll bet mil surplus ammo is next.

Considering his angle of fire, a lot of the brass would be flying out one of the windows, assuming he was at the window firing I'm sure your ARs don't leave brass right at your feet either but rather throw it a fair distance. So no, I'd not expect a ton of brass at his feet unless she walked over to the brass pile to end it.

But you know... ALIENS!

He fired for approximately 10 minutes, that's 600 seconds.

How many rounds can one more accurately fire with a scoped bolt action against running targets at 400 yds?????????????? Is everyone one of those shots going to be a killing shot??????????????

Doesn't anyone use basic math to do a sanity check on such asinine claims.

A lot brass could have been raining out the window, especially the window to the left as seen from the ground.

From the noise, it doesn't seem he had set himself back in the room a ways. If he would have set back from the window, and made smaller holes in the glass, it would have been tougher for the crowd to figure out where he was. Of course the room would have gotten pretty smoky. Some of his tactics show he wasn't quite as clever as he likely imagined.

Green Tip, I keep some on hand. Maybe not the most devastating, but it's far from non-lethal. Especially if it is actually aimed. When the balloon goes up, just have some ammo. Period.

Every new AR I had threw the brass out the side and way behind me.... I had to TUNE the ejectors to get em to toss brass forward...

Although none of any of this conjecture matters one bit.

As to accuracy and spray and pray, NEVER discount an accurate bolt gun shooter. For speed or accuracy. And at what was it, 400 yards? Off a set up rest, thats easy shots if stationary, and not that hard if moving.

Assuming he had good ability, which it appears, thankfully, that he sucked with firearms.

BTW the reload is the slow thing... bolts run fast if you know what you are doing... 1 good accurate shot every 3-4 seconds or so...if using a DBM bolt the reloads are as fast as anything else.

I've seen iron sight bolt gun shooters maintain 10 shots inside a 3 inch circle at 300 yards, in lesss than 60 seconds, AND including going into position and a mandatory reload more than a few times...

And with irons and an AR I used to be able to maintain 35 plus hits pretty regular on a silhouette at 600 wiht irons and one mag change in 50 seconds...

This, and he probably wouldnt have hit what he was aiming at at 400 yards anyway, especially since most were hauling ass.

Ditto on the distance and angle of the brass extraction as it relates to the amount of brass in the room. The majority of the brass in the room I’d wager is a result of him turning and firing through the door at the security guard.

I had an FAL that I’d swear threw the brass so hard that the brass got to the target before the bullet did. 😬

No one started running until the second or third burst. They might have stood for 50 rounds while if he would have been shooting a bolt rifle.

Imagine a 45-70 shooting 500gr hard cast, even at a modest 1200 fps or so. In that tight crowd, one bullet would go through several people.

In the one picture you can see the drape kind of billowing away from the window. Depending on how he was set up while shooting that could of caught a lot of his brass.

As to the speculation on bolt gun casualties. There were 22,000 people jammed in nut to butt. I'm thinking it takes a while for that many people to get the message then apply it that they need to be beating feet. And in every picture I see of people running I see a bunch of people stationary.

Everybody seems to think he shot and killed or wounded over 600 people. How many of the injuries were caused by being trampled, falling down or just plain running into stuff in a blind panic? How many actual gun shot wounds?

I’m interested in how many actual hits he made all totaled versus how many rounds fired.

He had 23 guns in the room, according to the news, how many had a bump fire stock? 2?

He had that many rifles so he wouldn't have to change mags, just drop that one and grab another.
Yes, there were other mags too.

I don't think the 'get some!' crowd does a lot of reloading.
