300 million firearms seems to be an acceptable (albeit, conservative) and oft quoted number of firearms in the US; owned by approximately 100 million citizens.
1. Is there an estimate as to the number of shotguns, rifles, and handguns that comprise said 300 million?
2. What agency calculated said numbers?
3. Are illegal firearms factored into said number? I'm thinking no as how would it be possible to calculate an unknown.
4 How are firearms manufactured but not sold factored in? I'd think it is a substantial number.
If you provide figures, could you also provide a link to the source? Gun control is a hot topic and i want to be able to quote facts, not hyperbole, innuendo, and supposition.

300 million seems like a low number. I know an excop in NJ that had probably over 1 thousand pistols, rifles and shotguns in his home alone. I don't know of a single gunowner that has less then 10 firearms.

How would it be possible to calculate any of this, as without solid "registration", legal firearms is also an "Unknown".

A truly meaningful statistic, if one could be accurate, would indicate how may persons owning more than 10 (or you name the #) firearms has ever committed a crime with one.

I know verry few people who don't own at least one gun.....I can think of one friend who doesn't on pawn any....he is not against them at all and vaotes concertive....he just doesn't care either way..he is a fisherman and never hunts or feels a need for a gun....
3 percent .....I don't believe that one bit...
