I may be a little late to the party on this. I just watched Hell or High Water. Pretty sure when the west Texas guy got Jeff Bridges circled around back of the bad guy (who I was sorta rooting for until he started killing people), the west Texas boy handed Jeff a Pre '64 M70 with an adjustable objective Leupold mounted. Anybody here agree I got that right. (Also, it seems to me to be a pretty "appropriate" rifle as far as context of the story.)

I noticed that also, it appears to be a pre 64 M70. The character he shoots appears to be using a newer Mossberg rifle.

GunDoc7: Thats the way I saw it. The second time I saw the movie I also noticed a large Rattlesnake coiled up near the foot of the soon to be "Model 70'ed" to death brother. I will double check the A/O Leupold next time I watch it. I enjoyed the movie myself - it was humble yet interesting and entertaining. Well acted by all I thought. I enjoyed the cranky waitress and the big titted waitress equally. I'll get back to you on the A/O Leupold - ASAP. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

What years did the model 70 have the hooded front sight? Without checking Rule, I'm going out on a limb and say all of them, meaning if they had a sight, it was hooded.

Sight looks original. The hoods slip into a groove on the sight base. Many were removed.
