I don't see many reports on these bullets. I tried some in a .270 about 10 years ago and accuracy was so-so. Never shot anything with them and I see Doubletap has a load with 210 gr Scirocco's for the 338 Federal that I may try. Any comments in general about the Scirocco II as they call it now and how it performs on game?

I tried 165's in my 300SAUM, couldn't get them to group like I like. They were in reloads, tried a few different powders.

I used the Rem cartridges with them in 150 and 180 in a stainless 300 rum. Each would shoot 1 in or less groups and im not a good bench rest shooter. I mentioned how great they were on the fire and found they arent accurate. They kill stuff real good and penetrate through and through. I would have no problem shooting an elk in the ribs with them in my 243.

Tried to use them several times, but always had problems getting them to shoot.

I really liked the 130's in my 264 WM, probably the toughest of the tipped bonded bullets in my opinion. They often like to be seated quite deep which is why I think you hear of guys not being able to get accuracy from them.

I like them a lot. Running the 210 in my 338 this fall. Plenty accurate for me.

I seat them deep, they tend to like a ton of jump.

They shoot very well in one of my .257 Weatherbys and one of my .270 Weatherbys, not so hot in second examples of each. The .270 'bee that likes them has a short throat and it is quite possible to seat these bullets to the lands, but it didn't start shooting until I seated them way back.

The 100 gr .257 is one tough bullet. I used it on an Australian deer cull on fallows and reds. Its a bit stiffer than optimum on the tiny little fallows in my opinion though it certainly worked, and started really coming into its own on the mule-deer buck sized red hinds. It became a bit of a game to shoot two reds with one shot, inevitably it would exit from the second animal as well. A guy looking for a hard hitting and deep penetrating, decent BC bullet on the sturdier side of the spectrum could find happiness with this one.

With the 130 grain in the .270 I have much less experience, but can say that it opens up on coyotes and porcupines and rips big nasty holes through close range elk and black bears. Anything in between isn't going to be overly safe.

The biggest issue with the Swifts up here is availability. Usually have to scramble a little to restock.

I've got a box of 150 7mm if anybody wants them. I'll make you a great deal.

shot the 180 II's in my 300 rum. good penetration, took top of both shoulders, the spine and was under hide in off side of a mature bull elk. expanded and retained weight very well

I run the 150's in my 7 RM at just under 3000 fps and it loves them. I have punched shoulders of deer and pigs with no regrets as close as 70 yards and out to 440 yards.

Its currently on loan to a buddy who shot a mature Black tail. It was a quartering towards shot @ 200 yards. Hit right in the neck shoulder joint and passed through the back of the off side ribs.

With that being said it did take some work to get them to shoot.

What did they change with the Scirocco II? Thicker jacket?

That was one change. Not sure if there were any others.

In my 6.5WSM, I found the 130 Scirocco II to shoot as accurately as the 130 Berger VLD. In a 300WSM, the 180 Scirocco II shot as well as the 180 Accubond. Used the 180's for a couple of mule deer with no bullet recovery.

The earlier Swifts though bonded were really soft and would open up WIDE.

They would hit hard and knock the snot out of animals, just not penetrate as much as some would like.

I'm a fan of first gen Scoroccos

I tried the same bullet and gave up on them..Gave them back to my buddy..

The .210-grain Scirocco with a black color tip shoot quite well out of my .338WM, but I haven't shot moose with it since I prefer the 225-grain Barnes TTSX. I bough a box of the 210-grain Swift ammo at one of the local stores because I needed to sight a new riflescope. At one hundred yards the bullet holes were pretty close to each other on a round pattern, so I would say that they are accurate.

Before giving up on SSII's, try jumping them. They can be COAL sensitive and like to jump.
