Rooster Shooter™

Arguably the most recognizable sixgun in western movie history, Cimarron Fire Arms went to great lengths to reproduce John Wayne's famous sidearm, used in so many of his trail dust sagas. Copied in every detail from Duke's own Colt, this ain't no gussied up six-shooter wearing a fancy finish, with engraving and pictures plastered all over it, rather it boasts of a trail worn, plain finish, with the bluing worn completely off, just like the gun JW packed when taming the silver screen. It even sports the authentically reproduced, aged-looking yellowed grips with the finger grooves! Made by Uberti in .45 Colt caliber, this 4 3/4-inch barreled single action is an exact twin to Big John's original motion picture shooting iron. From the mid-1960s on, our hero packed a gun like this in nearly every one of his great westerns, including such classics as Chisum, Big Jake, Rooster Cogburn, and his Oscar-winning performance in True Grit. As Duke might say, "This just suits your pistol!"

Model No. 3 Schofield .38 Special, 7"

Major George W. Schofield of the 10th Cavalry and an army ordinance officer, designed this revolver as an improvement over Smith & Wesson's No. 3 "American" model. Produced by S&W from 1875-1977, the U.S. Army ordered nearly 8,000 in the proprietary .45 Schofield cartridge and many saw service by the 4th Cavalry in the Geronimo campaign and by the buffalo soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry. Schofields were also put to work by the notorious James-Younger gang, U.S. Marshal Bill Tilghman and Custer's chief of scouts "Lonesome Charley" Reynolds. Another roughly 1,000 guns were sold on the civilian market. Favored by many horse soldiers for its top-break, rapid ejection system, many considered it superior to the 1873 Colt Single Action for mounted work. In the 1880s, New York gun dealer Schuyler, Hartley Graham bought surplus Schofields, cut the barrels from 7 to 5 inches, and sold many of them to Wells Fargo & Company.

Cimarron offers the Model No. 3 Schofield, 2nd Model, copied directly from an original in our vast collection of antique firearms. It's available in 3 1/2 inches in .45 Colt, 5 inches in .38 Special or .45 Colt, or the cavalry length 7-inch barrel in .38 SP, .44-40 or .45 Colt. (.45 Colt chambered Cimarron Schofields also handle the .45 Schofield cartridge). Whether you are into the real Old West, or the "reel" West where hombres like the Schofield Kid from Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, or gunman Charlie Prince from Russell Crowe's 3:10 To Yuma, packed these top-break sixguns, you'll enjoy owning a Cimarron Schofield

Stainless Frontier® Pre War .45 Colt, 4 3/4 in.

Arguably the most famous sixgun of the Old West, if not the best known in the entire world, Cimarron's Frontier models look and heft just like those guns used by the famous and infamous characters of the Wild West. Men like Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, "Texas" John Slaughter, the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Rangers, all packed them to enforce law and order. While men such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Johnny Ringo, Butch Cassidy and members of his "Hole in the Wall" gang and other hombres who, as they said in the Old West, "threw a wide loop," used them to ply their lawless trade.

Cimarron's replica, inspired by an original in our collection, sports the traditional blue and color case hardened finish with one-piece walnut grips. It's offered in the Old Model (1873-1896), or the Pre-War version (1896-1940). Stainless steel versions are also offered in the Pre-War frame only. Available in .44-40, .45 Colt, or .38 Special/.357 Magnum, in the original barrel lengths of 4 3/4, 5 1/2, or 7 1/2 inches, with an authentic 10-inch Buntline model available in the blued Old Model. Our replicas are exact duplicates of the originals.
