I guess since I have a Kimber Classic Select here in 30/06 that hasn't been bloodied yet, that's where we will start. Probably the 150 grain ballistic tip over 59 grains of H4350. The rifle will group them in the same 3/4" group with the 165 over 56 grains of RL 17. 180s land about an inch lower at 100 yards. I was on the fence about playing Kimber roulette, but this turned out to be one of my most consistent rifles. Leopold VX3i 3.5X - 10X in Leupold mounts. Couldn't be happier.
The T3 Hunter 7 Rem mag may see some action as well. 160 Partitions over 66 grains of 7828. Flat ass loves that load.
The 280 AI will likely sit the bench. I shot my buck last season with it. 140 grain TTSX over 60 grains of RL 19 is the recipe. Pac Nor barrel cut to 24". M700 action bedded in an older CDL stock. Almost like cheating.

Heading out for an Arkansas doe hunt today, Colt SAA 45 on the belt, Shiloh 40-65 for the long shots, both loaded with Holy Black. Didn't get to read many posts this morning, was in a hurry to get to the woods. The little Shiloh 40-65 didn't disappoint, doe#1 62 yards broadsided, punches both shoulders, 10 yard run and crash, doe#2, 200 yards broadsided, bullet struck three inches behind the shoulder crease, 25 yard death run, complete penetration, what a fun way to start the season, had both deer down by 8:40 a.m. CST, they're both at the processor, butcher said I'd be eating them by Tuesday.

Thanks moosemike, the little 40-65 with it's 400 gr paper patch bullet done the deed easily, the old Colt SAA wasn't needed, no pigs tried to root me outta my ground blind this morning ;]

1) Howa heavy barrel in 6.5 CM with 120 TTSX and back up 140 Gamekings in case I don’t like the TTSX performance. My first time using a mono bullet. 2) 98 mauser sporter in 9.3x62 with 286 hornady sp-rp. 3) Winchester 94 in 30-30 with factory 150 grain core-lokts. 4) S&W Model 29 with either 240 xtp or 255 WFN hardcast.

Gunner has it going. He sent me pictures on my cell phone of the two deer, both had absolutely perfect bullet placement . Barrel sights, no scope, and a 40 caliber Sharps with paper patched bullets and black powder. Both the 62 yard shot and the 200 yard shot showed perfect straight line penetration and complete pass through. This ain't an accident, guys. These guns are the Real Deal when you know how to use them, and Gunner has done his homework and put in the trigger time. Now it is paying off, big time.

Remington 700 classic in 8x57. Loaded with 180 gr. Nolser ballistic tips over Varget. CZ-550 American in 6.5x55. Loaded with 140 gr speer hot cor over IMR 4831. Commercial 98 Mauser in .257 Roberts. That one is Hornady superformance factory load
Hopefully I will get one with each. I hope you get one with each of them too, and congratulate you on obviously having the same quirky taste in cartridges as I have had over the years.

Thanks for the flowers Sharpsguy, that hunt, and being fortunate enough to get on two deer so fast, then dispatch them with two clean quick kill hits was a pure blast, as much work as horsing into the brush then horsing them back out to the truck for dressing and icing down put me on a tired high that lasted till bedtime last night, the good feeling is running strong this morning over coffee, hunting is truly an enjoyable and most satisfying sport. Particularly after mowing, brush hogging, spraying and weed eating damn near eight months this year ;] Hope the rest of you men will stop back by this thread and share your kills with stories and picks.

Depending on weather and the stand I choose, any of the following:
Savage M 10 rebarreled to 250 Savage using 117 gr Hornady RN over 34.5 gr H414 Savage 99 in 38/55 with factory Winchester 250 gr soft points Winchester 1910 in 401 WSL using Buffalo Arms Standard Arms Model G in 35 Rem using factory 150 gr Remington Core-Lots Savage 930 12 ha with Federal sabot using Barnes slugs
Bad weather gun
Savage M 16 in 7mm/08 with either 154 gr Hornady RN over unremembered powder or 140 gr Federal Fusions
If it becomes necessary to hunt black powder season:
54 cal T/C Renegade using conical bullet and 75 grs FFg
I'm not expecting shots of any great distance which explains the rifle and bullet choices.

Took my WY mule deer with a 6.5x284 and 140 bergers.
Will be after MT mule deer next month, and am undecided. Could be anything with me from .17 Rem to .450 Marlin.

Bergara Hunter 6.5 Creed Tikka Hunter .260 Winchester Model 70 .270 that was my first deer rifle. It was given to me by my parents when I was 9 or 10. I hadn't pulled the trigger on it since I killed a doe with it 20yrs ago due to my affection for new rifles. I gave it a makeover this summer with new B&C stock, cerakote, and a new Vortex Viper. I will carry it on occasion for old times' sake

The sheer differences in weapons and projectiles shows what an adaptable lot we are, geography plays a major roll, yes, but we could get it all done most anywhere under any circumstances.
