I want to carry a take down rifle in a knapsack but the overall length is 26 inches. I don't need to carry a lot of gear for a dayhike but would like to take the rifle, so I am not looking for a larger backpack. Anyone have any ideas??

Does it have to be enclosed? Are you going to be wearing a backpack? Can you strap it to your daypack?
