Lurker here on the site, have enjoyed reading the forums and especially the classifieds but finally decided to list something.
Have an decent condition, 1862 (give or take a year) Burnside carbine rifle. (NOT a musket, this fires the conical ice cream cone shaped bullets. No, I don't have any, no i haven't ever fired it, no I dont know if it fires, and NO **** I don't recommend shooting it or trying to until...you have it checked out 100% by a verified gunsmith! Anyone purchasing or swapping for this takes 100% responsibility for their own safety and acknowledges this fact. **** )
I would say that the patina is as close to original as they come at this age. I haven't cleaned it, didn't see any reason to. To my understanding, it's a 54 caliber but, I am NOT a Civil War rifle/musket expert by any means...
I am open to offers of swaps, interests range from .17 HMR to AR's to most anything that fires and is of equal value. I typically use Gunbroker for finding parallel values but am open to other ways to gather a fair assessment of it's value. Will consider a good scope as an option. Or good binoculars.
I will say that I am not interested in AR22, any revolver, spanish or italian rifles of any caliber or make and most any shotgun unless its a nice 410 semi auot or a 20 gauge semi auto. Other than that, throw out a suggestion. I have been fighting to list images here, I will gladly email them to you, my apologies, my computer is fighting me on this one! msg me and I will give you my email if interested.
the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded. Robert E Lee ~Molɔ̀ːn Labé Skýla~
Photos added of the Burnside carbine that I will trade or sell. Trades of all types considered other than Japanese war rifles.
Will trade for binoculars of good quality, Nikon, Leupold, etc. Good glass for rifles, prefer hunting scopes vs long range or competition. Will consider knives, book collections (Civil war, Custer, Native American series, historical, etc) good microscope, good modern (digital only) camera, vintage snowmobile, or good vintage home stereo gear, including amps, speakers, pre amps, cd transports, etc. If you have something interesting and want to swap, talk to me, I am flexible and willing to work with you.
these are photos of the actual bullet it fires. None are included with the carbine/rifle, but I thought that anyone interested in this rifle would like to know about the cartridge as well. I find it the shape fascinating!
