Opening weekend report from Nort ob da border.

Lots of wet snow & below 0* (26-32*) all weekend.

More deer seen than I can ever remember.

Saturday evening Joe's season ended when he filled his only tag with a big bulky fork horn.

Deb decided to punch her doe tag Sunday morning, after seeing at least 15 different does in her 10 hours on stand on Saturday. 'nother nice fat one !

Not sure where in OK you live, but in central OK this has been a bumper year for acorns.

Ada area . There are very few around here and most of them are wormy . One of my coworkers hunts around Centralhoma and the have a few on the creek bottoms .

For Lucas. <glass clink>

Nice deers Paul & Deb. Opening day deer heart I assume?

I had a chance to sight in a buddy's Ruger bolt 450 Bushmaster. Straight wall cartridge that hits like a ton of bricks. Threw some Hornady LeverRevolutuons at some 100 yard paper. She held a nice 1" group. Left it at 1.5" high at 12 o'clock. Really impressed with that gun. The southern part of our state used to be no rifles, shotgun only -- this is a game changer. This gun I'd hold dead on at 200. Very little noticeable kick.

Not sure if I'll get out for opener unless the Mrs. health is good. Had a softball size tumor taken out last Monday. Oral chemo for 3 years is supposed to take care of any stragglers. I got her home Sat and she won't sit still. Already talkin' about redoing the place. I can tell she's feeling better.

my first gun season of the year (black hills) opens tomorrow, I will be up in north dakota helping with a bison roundup all week. so much for taking a vacation frown I'll have about a week before my regular gun season opens (west river). and I need to get mama on some deer too. neighbor said they seen a huge mulie in the canyon mama will be sitting on opener, so she may have a crack at him. Haven't had time to go with the bow, been too busy with work, that needs to quit and soon. had 4 bucks in the backyard yesterday pestering the does. getting close boys!

I'm glad you got her home and recovering! That's a big first step man. Very glad!

I looked at a Ruger American in the .450 Bushmaster. It was pretty cool. It balanced really well.

doesn't anyone have the deer fever? Man, we used to light up this thread the week before deer opener. Maybe nobody is going deer hunting, did you all quit? Say it ain't so! Was Camp Chickenbuck sold? Name changed to Camp Chickenbowling?

My daughter has the fever, no doubt about that. We got an inch of snow today and more on the way for Friday so that gets me in the mood as well (for deer hunting).

Yah we got dat fever up here eh.

Stupid work has been horrendous. I've worked about 13 days in a row. I'm pretty excited for the break, let alone deer hunting. I may take a few weeks off when the baby comes tho.

I have camp Isabella loaded up in two trucks and the stands on a trailer. We will be heading up in the morning.

Sounds like we will have to shovel snow to put the tents.

Good hunting to all. I will post from camp if I have service.
