web siteLooks like the Chinese scientists were right about Gerbil Boy's test site. They were predicting this back in August IIRC. 7mm

Feared dead, really, yeah I don't fear that. Wish it was 10,000.

We had a death from a tunnel test ( Nuke at the Nevada Test Site) back about 1989.
After the nuke detonated they had a diagnostics trailer on the Mesa above the Nuke test, and when the contractor entered the trailer to retrieve the data the ground collapsed and the trailer sunk into the collapse,. They air lifted him to Vegas but he died before they landed at the hospital.
I got to enter the Tunnels back in the mid 80's, more snooping then working, and there were several sealed off drifts from old Nuke testing. We have had several vents, one they sealed the undamaged but contaminated tunnel with Gunnite to reduce exposures for future workers. Our tunnel system at NTS was pretty extensive, not sure if the Norks have a system like we had.

Got no problem with the average Kim and Park in N Korea. They have absolutely no say in the actions of their government. My sympahies go out to the victims of this tragedy and all their families.
Now if we could somehow go back and stuff gerbil boy and his cabinet into that tunnel.....I would be glad to help wih the stuffing.

I don’t think the ones that died were any threat to us, they’re merely trying to eek out a meager, miserable existence under the ruthless dictatorship of rocket man.

I worked those tunnels from 1969 thru 1992.(37 test participated in total) On that particular test, besides recovering data on the meas, I was one of the ones that went into the tunnel to recover equipment. Roofs caved in, crawling up over muck and down the other, lugging heavy electronic chassis or experiments , all the while double suited with a full face mask, no ventilation and only helmet miner's lights. There were a lot of other scarier situations/test,but as I recollect that was the only death.I still have the LV newspaper clipping of it. However, there has been well over 200 secondary deaths attributed to excess radiation, silicosis, beryliosis, and other various maladies form those test. What the American public is not aware of is the hundreds of deaths of soldiers from excess radiation that occurred during the above ground tests prior to underground test treaty from when they were in trenches being required to watch the test,or the newsmen/photographers sitting on News Knob north of Mercury watching the test, or families downwind of the fallout. For years now the US govt./ DOE has been paying out $150,000 plus to individuals or surviving family members that died or are still alive from nuclear test induced cancers if they were government workers. This included other nuclear facilities such as Pantex in TX and Oak Ridge in TN. Since I was a government contractor and not a direct employee, I don't qualify. The US is not without it's dark secrets.
