Looks similar to a caribou/moose cross that a hunter took up here about thirty years ago.
Maybe mulie/moose?

I agree with pds - old age. Where you guys coming up with these "cross" notions? Have they been DNA or otherwise reliably documented, or is this just jackleg beerstool biology? I don't think they are possible - the crosses you mention - and certainly not likely, tho bison and cattle can cross. There are also various diseases, hormonal and endocrine imbalances, and other causes that can result in wierd antler formation. In my moose book, they show some racks that look like coral masses. I don't for a moment think my mooses have been humping mermaids, however.

las I'm with you most of the way... but something is tugging at the backside of my memory about a moosexcaribou that was found, perhaps the critter Yukoner mentions???
The antlers are clearly elk... but there have been some strange things happen when hormones start moving <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> art

I woulda bet money it was a Red Stag, one particular isolated herd of Red deer on the Mahia coast of New Zealand often went the same way very heavy and palmated.
I don't appear to have a plate.

I'd sure like to see a picture and backup on it. Like was it in the wild, or pen induced, etc. Anyone Know?
