Hi all, I have been reading through these posts for several weeks (gaining some knowledge and lot's of entertainment) and I finally have a question of my own.
I just bought a used Sako AV with laminated stock in 25.06. It had rings but no scope. This gun is in excellent condition. No scratches or dents at all.
I paid $600. Was this too much? A good deal?
Also, how is the quality of the Sako AV. I know Sako is known to be a great gun....but like all other manufacturers, I'm sure they have good and bad models.
Thanks for any input. I will shoot this gun next weekend at the range to see how it performs.

It is a piece of trash and you quickly need to sell it to me before it's value drops to nothing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I have the same rifle in a .30-06, except mine is the synthetic stock model, but the same action. You did not get hurt at all on the price. It is not a great price, nor is it a bad price, just average. You have got to admit, that is one SMOOOTH action. The AV's shoot VERY well and function 100% of the time. The safeties are great as is the trigger, which is fully adjustable by you. The action and bottom metal are all steel. I would recommend that you buy Sako brand rings/bases with Talley being a close second. They will set you back $100 either way you go, but they are BULLET proof. Very nice rings. Get the LOW mounts. The mediums are good for 50mm objectives, but DON"T go for high mounts whatever you do. The Sako rings and bases are all one unit as well. In all seriousness, if you don't like it, drop me a line. I would be interested in picking it up. Flinch
