The outfitter who took the picture of my biggest buck advised me not to put my hands on the deer's antlers, rather to support the deer's head beneath the ears. That way the rack rather than your hands is the focus of attention. Cleaning up the blood takes just a few moments and makes for a better picture too.

My guides have always had me tuck their legs under them so they look like they are bedded.
