I've hunted near Queen City Missouri for 18 years and I was wondering if anyone else hunts Northern Missouri or Southern Iowa? If you do..... Are you seeing far fewer deer then say.....8 to 10 years ago? I only saw 3 deer in the past 4 days on my small 80 acres but one of those was this guy. He came into some rattling and grunting Saturday about 3 Kimber Montana 280 AI shooting 120 Nosler BT's at about 2800

Congrats Ted, Great buck! I hunted northern Missouri in 2014, didn't see a good shooter, 8 hunters took two bucks a 160 and a 148.

My farm is near Bucklin, MO. Yes, there are fewer deer than 8-10 years ago (due to DNR kills to control CWD), but we are seeing four times as many deer as last year, now that the antlerless season is two days instead of 10. I saw 23 deer on Sunday alone. Only one was a decent 10, but deer numbers are on the upswing.. That one is abeauty.

Great buck. I hunted the northern part of the Show Me State for the first time in 6 years. Saw few deer and no shooters. Definitely different than in the early 2000s. But the locals say the numbers have rebounded quite a lot since 2 or 3 years ago.

I have a lot of family there, and they were telling me they weren't seeing too many deer the last couple of years. A lot of EHD, and the CWD thing have cut the numbers a bit. I usually don't have any trouble finding a shootable deer, but my family has a lot of farmground to look over, and I've known a lot of those old farmers my whole life, too. I've just had too much stuff going on to make it up there for the season. My uncle had a dairy farm about five miles due south of Bucklin, you can probably see his silos once you get across US 36...........
