Phil
I understand that you have a 375 Whelen AI. (Anyone else with 375WAI?)
I am finally finishing my build - a 375 WAI. I was wondering if you’d be so kind as to share your loads? If you’d rather not share publicly would you PM me?.
I’m currently working with the 4064 - TAC burning class powders. I bought quite a few 270 grain Hornady bullets when Midway was having a fire sale. I’ll also be shooting a couple of cast loads too, but am asking about your Jacketed bullet loads, including 235 thru 300 grain or other recommended bullets as far as that goes.
My rifle is a good quality Mauser with steel Lyman aperature rear sight and a sourdough front sight. The stock is laminated.
I had bought a quality light Kevlar stock (mistake - not able to lower the comb.). So I went with laminated.
Thanks ahead of time.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I think the rifle you are referring to is the 375 Scovill, aka 9.5x62, and although similar I think it's powder capacity may differ enough that the stiffer loads may be suspect.

OK, thanks. Memory issues. I am using the Scovil loads as a guide. My first load was 50 grains of TAC with 270 grain Hornady bullets. Seems to be mild. I’ll be trying 4166 besides the 4160 and TAC powders at least for starters.

I’ve found a few loads on line. I trust 458Win tho.

Google resulted in ZERO articles, thus the question. Info in Internet Forums is about worthless, but thanks for the suggestion.

Sometimes you have to be creative and change the name, especially on such things as wildcat cartridge names... Look for such things as 375 Brown Whelen for example, Plus look in old Handloader articles, Rifle articles etc. It was a few years ago when the 375 Scovill article appeared.

Bugger - I've always been interested in the 375 W/AI/Scovill/B-W - whatever flavor one has. Keep us posted on what you find. I have a M70 SS 30-06 sitting in my safe that needs something.............

FWIW, I have a 350 Rem Mag based 375 (a simple neck-up job) which seems to be best fueled by the 4895s and TAC; not sure if your case has the same capacity or not.
I tried pretty much every IMR powder that seemed probable back when their line was more basic (no Endurons), and 4895 stood out among the rest. TAC has since proven to be, perhaps, even better. I get 2400 fps with 270s, 2300 fps with 300s (with the 4895s) in 20 inches of barrel length. TAC, I've mostly worked with in lighter (235-260) weights, and it gets very respectable speeds.

I had a Erropean cartridge collector ask me for a fired case from the 375 Scovill and after he received it he wrote to tell me that it was virtually the same as their 9.5x 62, which were commonly built by reboring worn 9.3x62 barrels.

I believe the Barnes number 4 manual has the Scovil loads in it. I'm on vacation and not near my manuals otherwise I would look, but you might start there.

Bugger,
I have a ".375-06 RCBS" which is a .375 Whelen AI with a 30 degree shoulder rather than the AI's 40 degree shoulder.
I was playing around with IMR-4064 last week and loaded 50gr under a Speer 235gr SP, CCI BR-2 (what was on the bench at the time), in fire-formed Remington .30-06 brass.
Five rounds went into one ragged hole at 100 yards that was slightly wider than tall as the wind was pushing both me and the bullets around. Nice, mild load that I wished I had chronographed so I have no idea on the velocity.
