Trying to make this src into something I will feel better about using. Added a straight stock, heated and somewhat straightened bubba'd lever, got rid of the fold down sight and added a KIngs. Not correct I know, but I think 'mo betta 25-35 !

Levers are easy to replace if it's compromised, the new wood looks great! I'd say reblue or rust blue would would add attraction to this piece, since it's never going to be "all original" ever again. And of course plenty of ammunition!

Looking pretty good, imho. Wouldn't bother me at all to take that to the range.

Nice rehab especially seeing that it is a .25-35 SRC. Agree with the rust blue suggestion since the wood is so nice.

Actually I picked up a real nice src this past weekend at a gunshow, in 303. Correct everything except rear sight, no extra holes, cracks ,etc! Thinking barrel swap?
And where can I find a ring for this one, Brownells, ebay,a dogs choker collar??

I think you did a nice job "un-bubbaing". It's amazing what bubba will do to a 99 :-( -TomT

Thanks! Always wanted a Savage src carbine, never could find them at a reasonable price. Now I find 2 in 3 weeks! Will post the src in 303 when I pick it up. Its nice, and was a super deal I think. Actually saw a few good deals on the Savages at the last few shows.

My post from a few years ago. This has been sitting in my safe for several years, and just got it out last week to fire it. Had some ancient mixed up box of ammo, Winchester, Remington etc. Couple of misfires, several hang fires. Target was set at 35 yds, holes all over the place, and 2 of them keyholed.?
Then tried a box of lever revolution 110 grain, those shot much better, no keyholeing and about a 2" group. Also discovered had a problem feeding rounds into the chamber. Will usually work if you feed them slow, but hang up about half way in with a regular motion. Bring lever back about a 1/4" and feeds fine. Also numbers are off on counter.
Anyway, don't really need this, as I have a src in 303 I like a lot. So the question is, sell it, or part out?

My god, don’t break it up! Sell it to someone who’s willing to finish the fine work you started by working up a load and using it.

I agree, there are plenty of willing post-modern bubba's out (t)here who would take it on as a project rifle. I don't know if you could get more money for it as parts, but maybe.., after adding more time, and more energy, of course..

Please don't part it out. If you were looking to sell it as a project I'd probably buy it off you.
