Deer chili. Took a deer shoulder and put it in the crock pot all day then pulled the meat off the bone and shredded. Used Bart's chili recipe with the shredded deer meat.

The kids are going to be here tomorrow and we will have the turkey meal on Saturday with them and the wife's sister and her family. Tonight I made a small-end rib roast for the wife and myself. Took it out and tented it when the thermometer hit 144 - came out with a perfect progression of doneness from out to in. Wife came up with mashed potatoes, scalloped corn, and excellent gravy.

Just finished off a bowl of beans and rice, garlic shrimp, and a simple green salad.
This batch of beans is the best I’ve ever made. Maybe even had. Pretty sure it was the homemade bacon that set them off.

Pintos.
Fried up about a half pound of bacon and used some of the drippings to cook a diced onion and some celery. A bit of garlic, some salt and pepper, a bay leaf, and a bit of Cajun seasoning before dumping in the beans, 2qts of chk stock, and the bacon.
Simmered for a few hours.

Mmmmm...I love all beans....especially Pinto's. I make em with Bacon or a Smoked Shank when I can get one.
Never tried home made bacon but something tells me it's better than store bought.

Never tried home made bacon but something tells me it's better than store bought. Smoked shanks are my favorite way to go. Don't know what's happening, but a couple of my go-to stores haven't had them in weeks.

Pan fried pork chops, fried spuds and green beans.
One of my favorite meals!
A person can do lots of fancy things to a pork chop........none of which are as good as simply pan frying one.
