Please don't show off your purty little 6lb .300mag let's see some real mountain man rifles in the mountains.

Why don't you describe what you are wanting to see a bit more so we will know if we have real manly rifles or not....

From the 26" it is getting 2790 fps with a 250 gr Nosler Partition. I have no need for a .338 Win.

Get the .358 NM.

In the 22" 358 Norma I had I ran the 200 gr TTSX as high as 3070 fps with no trouble but it was sighted in with the same bullet at 3000 fps. In that barrel the 250 gr Speer ran 2740 fps without pushing anything. I would agree that it a great round, I have been thinking of getting one again for bear protection when camping since I got rid of the 375 Ruger.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Gerry35 - a friend of mine - is the real deal, and hauls his rifles into some wickedly tough mountains after game large & small.

If he's got a rifle, it's a real mountain man rifle.
