Saw an app on someones phone which showed wind direction at ground level, using numerous small arrows that I assume were an overlay of some type. Anyone know of a weather app that offers this option/layer. Thanks

I have noticed that what shows up on the evening newssat pics is usually about 180 degrees from ground level... up here, anyway. Must be upper vs ground level.

I've noticed lots of prognosticators have no clue about what's actually happening at important points in Alaska. wink

Personally, I like the weather app which some people use which as specific as "You're going to have fart 'innies' if you don't face the wind", or "You're going to freeze your balls off!"

We have a rooster weather vane on the garage roof. He's always looking into the wind.

Windfinder.com. I find it very accurate locally. Weather stations on the Lake are automatic and kinda important to us watermen

But that one and Wind Map are still based on "forecasts". I've heard Dark Skies might have hourly updates.

The only realtime weather app I know of is with the $150-ish AcuRite home weather station that has the cell phone app so you can see the same info on your phone. But then that's only good if you hunt not far from your house.

Tie a thread about a foot long to your pickup radio antenna. When you park and get out to hunt, you can see the direction the wind is from.

Wind can change, I have sprayed fields when the wind was in all four directions.

No doubt.

When calling coyotes in certain areas, I've seen the wind come from all 4 directions while on one stand.

That little bottle that sends a puff of powder into the breeze is pretty handy.

Just like with other fake news, if weather apps or forcasters were correct, they would lose their job

You want the Aviation Weather app (free) Put out by NOAA .
It's my guess most weather and wind apps feed off the NOAA information.

Our range (Lander WY) sits in a deep canyon, it is notorious for wind blowing in all directions at the same time, swirling around and changing velocity all the while. At our 50 yard line, wind flag will be pointing in one direction and 100 feet away a flag will be pointing 180 degrees the opposite. Sure makes .22 rimfire benchrest an interesting proposition.

This is my go to app for wind, especially when fishing on lakes Huron, Erie, and St Clair. Certainly wind can change coming from any and all directions making their predictions not always accurate.
