I just got a 1995 Jeep YJ.

Where is the headlight dim-bright switch, and how does it work? I don't want to fiddle with knobs, levers, or buttons and maybe break something, so HELP!

Grab the left lever and pull it back about 1/2 inch should dim. All of my many Jeeps are left lever. Not up and down for turn signal, but just grab the end and pull it back just a little.

I tried that to the point I thought it would snap off. Yikes

I am going out to the Jeep and try it. Where do I send you the bill for a new turn signal switch? smile

If you break it, just put it on your CC for the repair.

You know as well as I do if it's not on the floor, then it's got to be something to do with the turn signal.

I pushed forward, and it broke off. I'll fix it next spring, when it's warm enough to drive the damned thing. grin

Read this one for sure. Seems to be an issue on YJ's.

Very common problem and very cheap fix.
Just be very careful putting the new switch in and putting it all back together. It is very easy to break the mounts or the switch.
Don't ask how I know that.....

Best of luck on the YJ.
I suggest you do a very good look at the whole Jeep. You have all winter to do it, Now is the time.
Pull a wheel, check brake pads, replace all fluids, maybe fan belts. Just check everything. Get a roller to lay on if you don't have one. Learn your Jeep.

Best of luck.

Glad mine hasn’t f....ked up. It’s one of the few thing I haven’t had to repair. Bought mine new in 89.

Good advice but I want to include that that also means the fluids in the differentials, guys will go run the damn things in water and never check them. I'm rebuilding one next week for a guy that did this earlier this summer.

Back to dim...back to brights...at least my replacement works that way.

The Jeep is in great condition mechanically. I know the car well, as it belonged to Owen's other grampa, and I used it from time to time. He is traveling, and I can't get in touch, so I asked here.

BTW, the old switch was pretty worn out, so it's good I replaced it.

Thanks to all for the help.
