Just picked up an old Model 110 30-06. gun is in really nice shape, no rust very little blue wear and not shot much. From what I can tell I believe it was made in 1958, serial number 27xx that's it 4 digits. What can you guys tell me? Magnum Bob

You're gonna like it. Definitely sounds like a 1958 model. Monte carlo stock, or straight?

Knock on FB2s door. He's the 110 Man! You keep saying that. We need to squash that rumor right now. Try deerstalker or Loggah, or JeffG.

Well it's a straight stock. I'll bet it only weighs 6.5 lbs. the rear barrel sight has the fold down leaf like Marlin 336's in the 60's and 70's. The bore looks new and has the hump for the rear barrel sight dovetail like a pre 64 M70. It really handles swell. I'm getting old and damn tired of guns that handle like a fence post. Thanks for the responses I'm trying to learn all I can about this one. MB

MP i have a few parts such as extractor for that if i can find them. love those 3 rings of steel 110's! the action on them is one of the smoothest you will find. last one i had i re barreled to 338/06. to hunt moose. still regret selling that one. of course you know without pictures it don't exist!

I hear you talk about 110s more than most so thats gotta mean something. And the bits and pieces on 110s I've learned about all came from you. If you know it own it.

Shot it this morning, first 3 were not tight but I called the flier. 2nd 3 went into an inch at 50 yds. It was shooting 5" right so I tapped the frt sight over but not enuf yet,I also moved the elevator up 1 notch . The frt sight has the number '28' on the left side of the dovetail base? I just used some 125 gr utility loads that shoot pretty fair in my 03's. Thanks for the response guys. MB

1958's go right up into the mid teens, 5 digit serial numbers. Here's a man that knows a thing or two about 110's. ^^^^^^ Seems to me 110's are not as well known but as a group we could nail them down if each would offer his input.

First year 110 Sporter, Chicopee made, low comb walnut, cut checkering, alum butt plate, oil finish, gloss blue, sight boss at rear, (like a winny 70) sako style extractor, Mauser style ejector, solid steel floorplate, extremely light for real walnut and steel, and will shoot waaaaay better than 2" @ 50

Hey RAM the 2nd 3 shots went into an 1 inch at 50 yds with loads for another gun .I've fired 6 total shots thru it. I am sure it will do better, your description of the gun was SPOT ON. I've put Weaver bases on it and a scope will follow. Are these triggers easily adjustable? Yes will definitely try 165 gr bullets in it with a load worked up for this rifle. MB
