Not the kind you smoke, but the kind that you cook with. Some sort of pressure cooker thing. Does anybody use one and what are your experiences? The wife is tired of coming home and having to spend an hour in the kitchen cooking. Worth it? Pros/cons?

I’ve heard several folks using them. Several different names, all do the same thing.
Say they work well. Speeds up cooking .

I'm a big fan of the old fashioned Crockpot.

A new user: Seem to be OK as they are sort of a low pressure cooker. Clocks and temperature control programming put them a few degrees above the typical crock pot. Thumbs up here.

We've used our weekly for years. Buy them as gifts often too. Handy gadget. Great for corned beef or whatever else takes forever to cook.
We don’t use it for cooking rice like many do. Prefer stovetop, just because that’s how we’ve always done it.
Will buy another if it ever breaks

I bought the six quart Instant Pot. Amazon sometimes runs great deals on it. It is a combo pressure cooker/slow cooker and also has a sauté function. My wife thought it was waste of money since we had two slow cookers. Now she uses it all the time and the slow cookers never leave the basement.
If you want to do fast stews and soups this thing is the ticket. Just above every review raves about it and there are lots of good recipes online.

we got the 6 quart size, plenty big enough w/o being too big.
they are nice, they're as good as a slow cooker, then they have more options too.
basically there's a microchip or something that allows a lot of different settings.

Triggernosis: wife just bought an Instant Pot. Says it's gonna eliminate crock pot, rice cooker and a few other cooking tools. Made some green beans last night with bacon, best I've eaten. Wife's a great cook and is not easily impressed. This has done it.
edit: eight quart.

I bought one two years ago from Amazon. I use it all the time, and it is a pretty good tool in the kitchen. I liked it so much, I got one for my sister. She is always telling me about the stuff she cooked. So we both like it.

Just got 2, one for us, one for daughter. We have done beef and potatos pressure, and pork chops with taters and carrots as a slow cooker so far. It beats the old pressure cooker as the thing doesn't sit there rocking too hard, then stop when you turn down the heat too much. You set it for the time you want, it counts 10 seconds and starts, and when the pressure builds it starts the timing, then will keep warm if you have that turned on. Duaghter made 12 minute chili so far with hers.
Ours has stainless steel pot, in my opinion better than aluminum.

My wife used ours several times a week. Very easy to use. Since getting it out slow cooker has never been used. Mashed potatoes from it are amazing.

You don’t need ONE... you need TWO One for the main dish and one for the side rice or potatoes etc.
