483 yard prairie dog #12460474 12/11/17 Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 623 Cody, Wyoming johnnyappleseed OP Campfire Regular OP johnnyappleseed Campfire Regular Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 623 Cody, Wyoming No photo but today I shot a couple of prairie dogs at 483 yards with my 204 ar15 with a nightforce shv 4-14x56 on top of it. I verified one kill with a neck shot, the other one was shot in the leg and it dragged itself back into its hole. I'm pretty sure this is my longest kill so far. I guess this was hunting.

This is a Long Range Hunting forum is it not? Who shoots prairie dogs at 100 yards anyway (except maybe with a .22)? Who hasn't had a few make it to their hole? Not perfect or necessarily desirable but it goes with the sport. "PC" is for those who live in a fictional, make-believe world.

On calmer days, about anything with enough accuracy and scope adjustment or hold over will work.
