The things I miss out on when I'm out hunting is amazing. Didn't see an elk either.

Yeah, but you are out in the woods and that's the polar opposite of missing anything! I can't tell you how many times I've waived a stick around in a stream pretending to be fly fishing. What's the old saying - "even my worst days fishing were always better than my best days working."

Priorities are in the right order!

Imagine your grave on a windy winter night. You've been dead for 70 years.
It's been 50 since a visitor last paused at your tombstone.....
Now explain why you're in a pissy mood today.

I'm getting closer to the elk. It looks like I went too far on the 4 wheeler and scared them today. Found fresh tracks where they had dug in and hauled butt. I'll be walking up that same very steep hill (8000 foot elevation) bad lungs and all tomorrow. I'll probably see them but will be so out of breath I can't hold the gun steady. You are right about the old age thing David, but then most of the young pups wouldn't even consider getting out of the 4 wheeler let alone walking up a steep hill!
