This .357 '73 Carbine had a complete short stroke action job by Pioneer, wood fitted and finished by me. Checkered by Errol Case in MO. Shooting long truncated 147 gr. Moulton lead bullets in .38 Spec cases, using Clays. In these kinda guns, it's good to maintain the right COAL. Engraved case color side plates from another gun I sold. I like the two tone look, matches the case colored lever. DF

Maybe... I drew a checkering pattern from high grade Winchester guns, sent my Marlin .357 Cowboy Limited to Errol Case. This gun has an action job and is super slick. My son has it. DF

The wood on that 73 is absolutely gorgeous!!
Politicians and Diapers both need to be changed often, and for the same reason!

Marlin is actually an 1894 CBC, .38 Spec with an action job.
I’m visiting my son, took it out and took more pictures which I’ll post when I get home.

I didn't remember the exact model number, tried to find it on line. Closest was the .357 Cowboy Limited, although that didn't sound right. Once I saw it was the CBC, it came back to me. It has case colors and had an action job by Jim Bowie in CA, hope I remembered that right. I bought it used a number of years back when I was active in CAS. The .38 Spec CBC doesn't come up with a Google search, must not be currently offered. DF

Both the Winchester 73 and Marlin 1894 are beautiful rifles...especially the 1873. No doubt 1873 turns heads at cowboy shoots.

It does attract some attention. These do, too. Gen III .38 spec. with slick action jobs. I bought them used from a TX CAS shooter who bought them, had a retired Wby engraver work on them. I then sent them for dead elephant grips made to my pattern. I sent a rosewood set of grips that I had shaped to fit my hands, they accurately reproduced the pattern. DF

I enjoyed putting them together. I went thru a number of CAS guns, these are keepers even though I'm not active in CAS any longer. The case color on the Colts is soft and almost iridescent, some of the prettiest case color I've seen on Colts. That was pure luck. They're at the top of their game regarding function, besides looking good. DF
