First question is why are 1894 big loop levers so much more expensive than similar loops for 1895's and also seem to be harder to find?

I've got a '94 in .44 mag that is wonderful to hunt deer with in my area. When it isn't wonderful is when it gets really cold, and a gloved finger doesn't safely enter the trigger guard area without putting unwanted pressure on the trigger.

Can you point me to some good, reputable makers of Marlin 1894 Large/Big Loop Levers?

I have found a couple that are about $150 for the lever, which seems hefty considering the part. But if they aren't mass produced I can understand somewhat. Midway and Brownells only stock standard levers, or ones for the 1895/336 models that I can see.

I'm aware of these so far:

What does the big loop achieve?

I’ve seen them, looks like it would slow you down.

It probably does, but this is more for hunting in cold weather, where an insulated glove finger doesn't fit inside the loops and trigger guard very well. Just a space issue.
