Getting offered this as partial trade toward something else. It is synthetic stock ...seems to be in good condition...markings at sight state 0390 which research states March 1990 production date.

Questions are value in decent shape? Accurate gun? Good candidate as a action to build off of?

Hard to go wrong with a Mauser

The Mark X rifles are good rifles. I've had several and have no complaints. They are well made shooters. I'm the wrong person to speak on value. I think most of what's on the market is overpriced with the possible exception of the Tikkas.

I am reading that the actions can be good donors for rebarrel although I like the 270 caliber.

Just thinking what kind of value this one has if a re trigger/re stock vs a true build with barrel and all.

Built my 6.5-06AI on a naked Interarms Mark X action. It has a Timney trigger and shoots great. Can't complain.

Good guns for around $400-500 depending upon caliber and condition. I found a barreled action for $315 and turned it into a 358 Win. Great shooting rifle. As dodge said "hard to go wrong with a Mauser. "

I have a 6.5x55 and 9,3x64 built on Mk X actions. Both are very accurate. I bought both Donor rifles for about $400, these being the older in the bow release type. I have a couple in 7mm Rem, one in .300 winnie, one in .308 Norma, one in .416 Ruger, as well as several in .30-06 and one in .308. All have been both accurate and reliable. The 90's made version the OP is considering would be the speed locked version.

Back in the 90s every gun shop and pawn shop had 3 or 4 Mark X rifles on the shelves for sale. Dont see them much anymore.

Had a couple back when FNs were hard to come by at a decent price. Good rifles, but the stocks weren't much. Sounds like someone took care of that on "yours".

One of mine came with a horrible, non-adjustable trigger that felt like a Moisin-Nagant. Easy to fix, but needs to be considered in the deal if present. Most have decent adjustables, though.

Have a couple, have had a bunch... Some are a bit rough, especially below the stock line.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with them though a little polish is not a bad idea.

I've had two, a .300 Win. Mag. that was very accurate and a .375 that shot better than I could. Still kicking myself for selling them off for something i thought I wanted more.

I've had one in living with me for 20 years. It's been a reliable, smooth running rifle. The factory stock is quite ugly, though it does fit me well. Adding a recoil pad made it much more pleasant to fire. $400-500 sounds about right for a price.

go for it, Great rifle all around,very underated but not by savvy people, had my 338 semi-custom win/magnum built on that action bac in the mid-80s.

What stock are we talking about? That makes a big difference.

Great rifle as a work horse but good enough to go all out custom starting with a surface grind and as far as you want to take it. Not sure who made the barrels but they usually shoot from good to very good so don't be too quick to re-barrel.

Very solid rifles with great actions. All I've had were very accurate. One 243 in particular was beyond scary accurate. Probably one of the most accurate hunting rifles I've owned... Like somone else said, probably valued in the $400-$500 range, but worth a whole lot more that that in terms of what you get..

I sorta regard them like FNs made on a Monday.

As TC1 has said, (where is he, anyway?) "It's not what you start with, but what you end up with". A little rough maybe, but well worth having and using, or gussying up. My late brother sent an action and a box of money to Brown and got back a very fine 7mm Rem mag that would shoot your eye out.

They are in fact made on the same equipment as FN used. They bought the machinery when FN stopped making Mauser actions.

Have had three. All got rebarreled over time.

Still have one that is in a Joel Russo stock with 30" #7 profile barrel chambered for the 338 RCM, Long throated to shoot 300 gr Bergers. Gunsmith tweaked the trigger to break at 1 1/4 lbs. Near Mfg has a picatinny rail for this action.

The stock might be a McMillan. They used to offer one style that fits the interarms action.
