Best one I've seen captured on film, and show how quick you can lose a dog.

Of course the apologists come forward and say "it was the breeding season", "the coyote coulda killed the dog if it wanted to", and "the coyote was defending its territory". I figure the last one is sorta correct, coyotes do have a natural antagonism to dogs as they would any canine, including intruders of their own species.

I'm pretty sure that coyote 'wanted' to kill ol' Boozer there, and woulda done if it had a few more seconds of opportunity.

they have killed house dogs near me. we had a wild dog attack our house dog 15yrs ago. the dog weighed 110lbs and tried to attack me. i beat him until he couldn't walk with a 5cell mag flashlight and went and got my 22mag and put one thru his head.

She looks just like what I would expect a coyote behavioral specialist to look like.

“Breeding season”, more like feeding season which is 24/7.

Those varmints love fat house dogs, don’t cull fat housecats. Equal opportunity and such.

Those are suburban coyotes with no threat or control besides the occasional vehicle on a road. Yeah, if the lady hadn’t scared the coyote off, fluffy would of ended up as a hairy turd.

The right prey in the right environment. This one made the wrong choice in both cases.

I always let the Catahoula out when I toss a log on around 2 am. She will really put up a fuss if she winds a coyote or fox, but when wild canines are hungry enough, who knows? I keep the Hornet loaded right at the door just in case. It's come in handy with other vermin.

Glad Boozer was rescued, had it been a cat, I wouldn't have cared much.

Ya'll want to see what Coyotes think of dogs get someone who has decoy dog/dogs to take you out some time.

You'll come away a true "Coyote behaviorist".

IMO that's about as fun/exciting as hunting gets.

Just heard a report about a dog killed by one in Fairfax County, VA. When I was still working, I used to see them all over Loudoun County at night. Wolves gonna be wolves, even little ones.

had a pack of 9 coyotes attack my two labs right at my feet once. it was kind of sporting for a few minutes. went and got my mini-14 and didn't see 'em again LOL...

I like the way the dog played that ‘yote until he could get a killing shot, his mouth around the back of the ‘yote’s neck.

Once he had that bite, ‘yote was toast.

Looks like a big GSP. Very determined breed.

If I wasn't armed or didn't have ready access to arms, I think I'd have to try to save my lab however I could. I love my dog.

I would not have let the dogs go down, but I was wearing heavy winter garb and knew the coyotes would have a tough time hurting me.

lots of small dogs (and cats) go missing around here, on the edge of town. I figure it's yotes, or Great Horned Owls.

welcome to living around coyotes. Went out to check on a couple of calves 50 yards from the house a few years ago and had one rush my dog from the timber. Not urban yotes either. She was a pup then but has notched a few after she was grown

A lawyer bud jumped in a bayou to fight a six foot gator off his lab.

Gator had the dog by the leg, was gonna pull him under and drown him. Bud kept hitting the gator until he let go.

Guess a gator can't bite two victims at the same time.

I had 5 coyotes on my decoy dog once. He was just an Australian shepherd but was good sized and smart. He had gone over the hill and out of sight. I saw the coyotes heading towards him on the run, and I figured I had better to get to the top of the hill in a hurry. By time I got there the fight was on. My dog knew that he was in a fix, and had backed into a big sage brush to protect his back. The coyotes were coming in from the front. My dog grabbed and shook one,and another ran in and bit the dog. My dog knew if he came out of that bush he would be toast. I sat down and killed two of the coyotes right there, and got a third one when it stopped a ways out. My dog was glad I had showed up with the rifle to even it out. One of the dead Coyotes had a who!e mouthful of my dogs hair. On numerous occasions I have seem a couple coyotes try and hide and sneak in from the flanks while another coyote or two held my dogs attention, with the goal being to completly circle the dog. Coyotes can be ingenious little fellers. Most little turd hound pets are not even close to being in the same league. They get ate in short order.
