Yeah, plus about $300 more.

Maybe, depending upon when it was made.

This one has a light grey stock, stainless receiver and barrel. The bolt does have the jeweling and it all looks like new. The only thing I found odd was the sling swivel studs are blue. The barrel has no markings but the caliber and proof marks and the stock looks the same as my 280 is. I will get the serial number and call Remington to see when it was made. So which were the best ones?

So which were the best ones? From the fall of 1999 to the fall of 2001 Remington didn't stamp a date code on their barrels. Odds are your's falls into that time period. I'd say the KS's were all good. Based on other M700's, 1999-2010 or so weren't Remington's finest years...........

Get the serial number, call Remington and confirm the rifle is legit, provided those boneheads have their records in order for this one.
If it checks out; buy it, buy it, buy it.

Put the rifle on layaway today, didn't get it for 950 but 985 out the door. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. Thanks for all the encouragement like I needed it. I already have one of these in 280 and I love it.
