I just finished mounting one Lightfoot's no drill scope mounts on my Grandfathers 1920's 1899 in 250/3000 cal. I topped it off with a 2-7 power Scorpion scope.

Since my eyes aren't very good anymore, I just can't see the rear sites on iron sites anymore. The last few years, this rifle stayed in the gun cabinet as I looked for a complete Stith scope set up. I hadn't looked for a year or so, so started to search again. I happened to see a picture of Lightfoot's mount and BINGO! New life for my Grandpa's old gun.

I can't wait to try this out and if it wasn't such a pain in the A, I'd send you an Elk steak or two from the Bull Elk that this gun will drop next year.

I'd recommend Lightfoot's mount to anybody.

Thanks for all your help Lightfoot.!!!!!

Mount looks great, but you need a "period correct" scope. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your post! Making these mounts is more a labor of love than huge financial gain. Stories like yours are the real payback.

One that was made when the rifle was made or as soon after when scopes were becoming popular. A Weaver K4 series, for instance, Joe.

Very nice. Looks light Mr. Lightfoot is carving his own personal a niche into the ongoing story of the 99! Years from now if people are still shooting and still shooting the 99 I am sure some will encounter his mounts and will be asking about them.

Mike, are you marking, name and version, and dating your mounts? Maybe you should. Maybe even serial number them.

No, I don't mark them at all. I do keep detailed records on who they went to.

I've had a real flurry of year end inquiries so 2018 will hit the ground running!

Lightfoot,
Details on your mount. What do they go for? Looks like something they should have came up with 50 years ago.

The mount will be $170 shipped until my costs increase again.

I borrowed the concept from the Stith design dating back to the 1940s.

Wonder what a vintage "Lightfoot" will bring 100 years form now

The mount uses standard Leupold, Redfield, etc. standard turn-in rings so it will handle about any scope made.

Rings are not included so you buy what you need for your scope.
