It is way better than all those short fat magnums that came around a few years ago. On a serious note, the different neck length precludes doing something like reboring a .243 to it the way you can to .260 Rem.
Remember 20 years ago any metric was a bastard to some people, and 6.5 was the bastardest of all.
This ought to help things along.
