I started to post this down in the section for such, but figured my question would be seen by more people here. I have a 2013 Polaris Ranger 500, and have fixed a gazillion flats on it. It has the Carlisle AT489 tire, which I'm pretty sure is a 4 ply tire. I've already had to replace a rear tire because it had a hole that was too big for repair. I now have a front tire that has about a dozen plugs, 2 doses of Slime, and still won't hold air. I'm going to buy 2 new fronts, and have been pricing tires. Carlisle makes a 6 ply tire in this same style, and the best price I've found was on Amazon for about $92 bucks with free shipping because of Prime. I've also found a Kenda 6 ply tire for a lot less, but know nothing about them.

My question.......does anyone on here know anything about a Kenda tire? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I would by DOT rated tires and be done with it. I have seen guys run Swampers, BFG Mudders and all sorts of tires that hold up way better than typical UTV tires.

I run ITP Terracross tires on my ATV. They weigh considerably more than the OEM tres and do a great job for me.

There are some 8 ply tires available....can’t remember the brand. We went with Tera-Cross RT, 6 ply, and they are “lightyears” better than the garbage that came on our Ranger. memtb

Likewise I put a set of 8 ply ITP's on my Polaris RZR, and they did fine in the West Texas desert, where everything has spines.

Last year I put a set of Sedona Ripsaws on my Polaris RZR. They're animals. 6 ply
They might be too aggressive for sand, though. They'll probably dig in too fast. They're great in rocks.

I bought some Kenda bounty hunter 8 ply radials off ebay and have no complaints. I have them on a mule and use them in the woods, gravel driveway and in the pasture. No problems in 1 year and 8 months.

I run kenda bear claws on my 3 ATVs and love them, they are a 6 ply tire and I have not had a single puncture yet and we trail ride a ton with a lot of rocky sections. If you google bear claw reviews you will find a ton of positive comments, they are a tire that does everything well , from trails to light mud ( but having said that I have hit some pretty major mud holes and came out the other end) to rocks and tree roots. I think you will like them, they also have radials that are 8 ply but more money ..

When it’s time to replace the tires on my ranger. I’ll go with the bighorn knockoffs on eBay. Sun brand?
Get good reviews. I’m like you. Thorn bushes are common where i hunt.

Last week i had rear tire with a slow leak. Ended up having to take it off the ranger. And put tire and rim under water. Sure enough. A plug was slowly leaking. Pulled the plug out and put 2 in. Holds for Now.

I have a set of the Ripsaws on my Yamaha Rhino 700. They are not half the Tires that the Maxis big horns I had previous. And I find that the Ripsaws will flat spot if the machine sets for a day or two.

Thanks for all the responses. I drive this Ranger everywhere, gravel road, blacktop road, trails through the woods, in pasture fields that have some thorn trees, and I'm sure that I have plenty of opportunities for flats. I'm very disappointed with the OEM tires, as they have not held up. I'm probably going with the 6 ply Kenda Bear Claws, but am still researching. I have a Honda Rancher 4-wheeler that I bought new in 2000, and it still has the original tires. They're pretty much wore out, but still hold air and go where you point it. I think that says a lot about tires made then versus now.
