Last night I stopped at a Holiday Superstation to get some gas and groceries and to get my wife's Christmas present. When I was in the aisle that sold ammo I could not help but notice that the spot on the shelf where the 6.5CM ammo would have been was completely empty, but there were 13 boxes of 35W. I asked the person working if they had any 6.5CM in back she checked and said no. She also went on to say "we will not be getting any anytime soon". My best guess would be that the person that does the ammo ordering for the store has realized that the furor for this caliber is trending down and does not want to get stuck with a bunch of boxes collecting dust for years. Eventually, this round is going to be getting harder and harder to find.

I do not know how to post pictures like that bald guy did for you to bump this thread, but if you PM me your cell number I could send you pictures of the 750 Remington Carbine I have for sale and your could treat yourself to a beautiful rifle for Christmas.

Is this a joke? If not, I have $500, which I know is not what you're looking to sell your 750 Carbine for, but $500 will always be a good amount and $995 is a fad and will be gone very soon. . .

Thank you for your interest, but the 750 Carbine has been sold. I'll let you know if something happens

This thread has some real head-scratchers in it. I thought it was a deadpan joke making the point (which was probably reality!) that the Superstation couldn't keep 6.5cm on the shelves because there are so many who use them and buy the ammo...but apparently not the intent, which is hilarious!

It's not mine, but my cousin has one almost like it and he loves it. My cousin has cable tv and is able to watch all the hunting show so I trust him.

and you'll not have to worry about finding ammo for a 270, it has been around a long time.

Although I have a soft spot for those old pumps, unfortunately I already have a .270 and don't really see the need for another one at this time.

The Browning X-Bolt is getting high marks in the accuracy department. This would be a very good rifle for you and is in your budget.
Bump for helping another guy spend his money...

I'm a huge Browning fan, and own a few of them. That being said, I'm trying to stick to my plan of stainless, as I seem to find myself hunting in crappy weather often, and I just prefer the look. I'd be more interested if it didn't have a break on it (not sure why Browning is putting breaks on everything lately).

Since you seem to be opening up to alternatives, I'll throw a hat in the ring: Encore Pro Hunter 460. This thing is light (750 is NOT), stainless (x-bolt is NOT), takes a half dozen different kinds of ammo available at the local gas station or hardware (35W & 6.5CM NOT). Let's look at the options: 45 Colt, 410 shot, 410 slugs, 45 Schofield, 454 Casull, 460 S&W, and who knows what else that fits in the chamber. Want no recoil? Stick a 45 Colt in it. Want to whack a partridge of opportunity? Drop a 410 #6 in it. Elephants headed your way? Go 460 S&W at 200yds and beyond. Can't get your hands on those? Dig around in the ammo clearance box for some long-forgotten oddballs. The 45 Colt has been around for 145 years. Will the 6.5CM be around for your great, great grandchildren to shoot? I doubt it. Make me an offer!

Thanks for the offer, but at this point I'll have to pass. I have a buddy with a 460 and don't see a need for one myself. If I want to beat my shoulder up I'll just go shoot his.

NO NO NO NO!. Please do not misunderstand me. They are NOT interchangeable like a 38 and 357. Please do not even try, that is not what I am saying. If you re read the post I think you understand better, do not skip any entries.

Wait, you mean 38's and 357's are interchangeable?

That's cool, a 308 and a 30/06 should be interchangeable too, I'm gonna try it.

I think you're onto something YUGE here with this.

epically wrong-headed. The 35W has no place in this thread and the OP ought to look at the many great optionsthat exist from ruger/tikka/howa - all no-brainers

For anyone that thinks the 6.5 creed is going away in the next 30 years you need to ask some guys that actually sell them. I have a friend that works a big seller and he said the creed is the most popular caliber he has yet to see, they can't keep them in stock.

while it's not a magic round it certainly does a lot of things very very well. the big thing is all the great factory ammo available, it's getting pretty easy to come by just about anywhere you look. can't say that for the .260?
