Pure torture to end 2017.
I found this spring on the floor, dime for scale.
No idea where this spring is from.

It's a dime. It came from a mint, someone probably dropped it on your floor.

At least you didn't find it by getting it impaled in your foot, that would be pure torture.

I've never had this in 35 years of tinkering....
Guns I've had apart in that area in the last year or so...
Rem 7600
Rem 700
Savage 99c
Savage 99
Winchester 94ae
Ruger 77
Browning BLR
Browning ShortTrac
Browning BAR MkII
Marlin 444p
Marlin 45-70
Ruger 96/44

I'm on Midway typing each model and 'spring' looking at the search results...

Whenever the little widget that little spring was supposed to be holding open or shut doesn't stay open or shut anymore, you will know.

In the meantime, be thankful that 11 months ago Trumper was sworn in as POTUS and not the hag.

2017 was a good year.

Have you had any fishing reels apart. Looks like the design of many bail springs from spinning reels.
