I saw the cover in the store, didn't buy it. I just looked it up and read it. The first "false" premise is that if you could find a city with NO guns, and intruduce some, gun death would go up. No mention of places like Chicago where no one is supposed to carry. A quote from the article: "Most Americans with concealed carry permits are white men living in rural areas, yet it is young black men in urban areas who disproportionately encounter violence" That speaks for itself; guess who starts the violence?

Another tidbit; most people including cops have not used a gun in self defense. That fits right in with my wife asking me, after we wnet on a picnic to an area with a bear trouble sign, if I had a gun. I did, but we saw no bears.

At the end he cites an expert discounting Lott, apparently with no data.

Oh, but people who get their "science" from SA are just sucking it up.

Most people who have fire insurance on their home have never used that either. I guess this guy will now cancel his fire insurance.

Lot of dead people wished they were carrying

By itself, this is true. Without guns, no gun violence. Duh.

However, OTHER violence from simple assaults to battery and knife violence would escalate. Muggings, thefts and burglaries would escalate. Racketeering would increase. Generally, property rights would be endangered, and the weak members of society would be at the mercy of the predators.
