Seems a few guys have had issues with the spring moving around in the bottom of the blind magazine well, giving some feeding issue. While gathering parts for a blind magazine Model 70 project, I stumbled onto this little gem from the original 670/70A (blind magazine) Model 70... it's designed to keep the spring from moving around int he bottom of the magazine well. I have one in hand, and while I haven't tried it in the 84L MT, I can't see any reason it shouldn't work superbly. Be forewarned however, it will add a whopping .4 oz to your rifle weight... https://www.ebay.com/itm/141689990371PS, he will accept $8.95, but not less... trust me

Too sweet! I have a 30-06 that feeds fine that I am going to reborn to 35 Whelen, might pick one up just to ensure I never have an issue... That and the extra weight will help with recoil in that little gun

They look great Brad. No delivery out of the US though :-(
I might see if he’ll send it to a freight forwarder. I’ve got a 270 montana in which the spring slides forward. Any idea what model will fit the Montana mag box out of the models listed? Thanks

Looks like Winchester put some thought into that. Agreed... they obviously know a little something about blind magazine design. Rather than modify the existing USRAC mag box, I picked up a 670 box from the same seller. He accepted a $24.95 offer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/WINCHESTER...8?hash=item25a7d1eb0a:g:heUAAOSwpDdVdhMZ

Of course you have one of those... should have known I’m fairly settled on a 30-06 with “modified” featherweight barrel pattern, tapering from the shank to .600” at the muzzle. Will go in a Brown stock too.

I sold my 270 MT otherwise I’d try it. I bet it works...

The three models he lists are all for long actions. 25-06, 270 and 30/06.
MODEL 70A MODEL 670 MODEL 670A
There must be a difference between the three. I’ll measure the Montana box and send him a message to see if one will fit better.

There must be a difference between the three. There is no difference... he isn’t listing “three models.” He’s selling ONE PART that fits all three models and cartridges...

AK, using the factory spring but replacing the SS follower with a 1990's graphite one.
It's about impossible to find a blind M70 trigger guard, but I've got two M670 guards (which are pretty rough!). I had one bead blasted to take the baked-on finish off, then I worked it down with a variety of files, sand paper, and emery until it resembles a pretty fine trigger bow. Will have it bead blasted again to a fine finish that should match the rifle pretty closely.

"It's about impossible to find a blind M70 trigger guard"
It sure is. Sounds like yours will look great when you are done with it. No surprises there!
Were you able to source the graphite follower or did you have an old one on hand?
Chiro - pm me your mailing address and sometime in 2018 you will get a envelope from the States.

I've printed up a bunch of magazine spring stop inserts for 84/8400 rifles that completely fix the issue of the lower spring leg moving fore and aft which eliminates the problem of the rear of the follower dropping and the bolt riding over the top round in the magazine. Spring manufacturing is as much an art as a science and when you combine tolerance stacks you can find some rifles that have the problem that this thread discusses. A weak spring can definitely make the problem worse. I recently fixed the same feeding issue on a Talkeetna for a VP of a hunting clothing company by adding epoxy stops to his rifle. His rifle now runs without any issues (see video link). I did the same to my Talkeetna that didn't have a problem and have done this enough that I printed up a plastic dam to make the job easier. I've also added epoxy or inserts to rifles that haven't experienced this issue in order to increase reliability. The Winchester part shown in the first post most likely won't work well if at all. You'll almost definitely lose magazine capacity assuming that you can even get the part to fit the stock and magazine well. ABS magazine insert Epoxy and dam Talkeetna working perfectly after the "fix" https://youtu.be/vCBte9bQKzM
