17 miles to a nice little town. 70 or so to a walmart. Two kinds of deer out the door, pheasants, sometimes turkeys. Elk, grizzlies, wolves just up the creek closer than town is sometimes.

Our driveway is 7 miles long and it takes 15 min. to get to the county rd. threw 3 gates, then it's 65 miles west or 75 miles east to the Wal-mart or food stores, guess you could say I live in the sticks, wouldn't have it any other way, Rio7

Lol. Good point.

We’re 25 miles out, and go everyday for business. It’s a lifestyle choice. Not cheap, but affordable

When I was first married (1980) we lived out in the sticks it was miles to the nearest neighbor a dairy farmer another 15 miles to the nearest town with a grocery store and bank, etc but prices in that small town was so bad we drove an hour in the other direction. Work was daily 100 mile round trip and driving 3rd shift sucked in the winter.

Work moved me west to town of 100,000 with gas, banks and Walmart grocery store 1.5 miles away.

Miss that home in the sticks!

We can get fuel 25 miles up the road, but the grocery store, hospital, dentist, and truck parts are at least 75 miles one way. A good choice. Sometimes I don't leave here for 3 weeks.

What more could one hope for ?

At least according to a recent Youtube Video...

Wife and I are on the 10 year plan heading towards retirement and moving out in the sticks. Would love to find some land within an hour of a town just big enough to cover our basic needs. (Car repairs, grocery store, medical clinic, etc.) Really looking forward to being able to sight in rifles right off my back porch, watch the deer and turkeys come into a backyard feeder, and hear nothing but silence most of the time. Tired of hearing car traffic. Would much rather trade that for the sound of farm equipment working the fields.

Gunner, have a look at the area near Big Falls, Minnesota. About 90 miles north of Bemidji. Timber, and near good fishing.

No, we are about twelve miles south of Hwy3. We don't advertise; not even with a sign. GD

Yeah, we've been looking up east of Pine City right over on the border. We also looked at Wisconsin in the Ladysmith area. Really liked what we saw over there, but the properties we looked at were too far out for a daily commute to work, and it would be tough for me to find work in my field-I'm an optician working for Wal-Mart and would prefer to just finish out my career in one of their stores, but the one in Ladysmith doesn't have an optical shop.

I was born in Ladysmith

Nice little town, low crime and great fishing in area especially on the Flambeau, decent deer hunting in that area.
