Fast twist 22-250 (1 in 7 twist) or 6xc (1 in 8 twist)?. Goal 600 yds to 1000 yds steel targets in 100 yd increments. Having 250 pieces of Winchester 22-250 brass to utilize, I thought one of these rounds would fit the task nicely. I have 22-250 dies as well as dies for the cartridges listed below,( not competitive shooter).

I currently have a 6mm Dasher 8 twist.
6.5 Creedmoor 8 twist.
6 br Norma 12 twist.

Doesn't your dasher trump both?

I went the cheap route with a 1/8 twist Tikka T3x .22-250 from Whittakers. Should have plenty of go out to 1K with H414 behind a 75 gr ELD.

Fast twist .22-250 is what I'd do there.

Maybe 22-250 if it was the AI version. But it is hard to beat the 105-108gr class of bullets with something in the .224 family you can get to shoot well at 1000 yards. The 6XC or Creedmoor or Dasher or whatever, are just too easy to do.

For 1000 yds I'd pick a 6mm any day, but I'm curious what a 6XC will do that your 8 twist 6mm Dasher won't.

Since you already have the 6 Dasher, I’d go with the 22-250. Here’s 5 shots at 710 yards from my 8” twist 22-250 and 75gr Amax.

Barrel life on the 22/250 with 75's is about a 1/3 of the 6 XC

I have owned two. The last one is a Kimber Montana with a Rock barrel. Very Nice shooter....
