The Capercaillie is on my list too, and I would seriously be interested in your other post concerning it if it we're for a few critters a bit higher on my list: namely a grizzly bear.
I used to hunt them and grouse with a guide/friend when i worked in Russia outside of Kirov. I remember called глухарь.The first time I had one fly overhead in the forest I swore it was a turkey. I managed to shoot one and tried to get it mounted.
I went hunting once for a musk deer in Kazakhstan . Never got a shot.
Yes, the bird can be combined with roe deer and with chamois in that area of Bulgaria. I think I'll bust my budget and do a Capercaillie and a chamois and stay a day or two extra. This will be my last hunt of any consequence, and I'm going to take #1 on my bucket list and a chamois, an animal a bit lower on the list but there nonetheless.
